This is a wrist watch from World War II that has the unit insignia of the "Das Reich" Division of World War II on the face . The watch was manufactured by Miramar Geneve and uses a 17 rubis movement. The dial of the watch is not luminous, the hands and numbers look to be brass. Between the nine and three o'clock dial positions there are two black shields, the left one having the unit insignia of the 2nd SS "Das Reich" Panzer Division on it. The shield on the right side has a generic skull and cross bones on it. The watch case measures 36.58mmand the glass is not scratched or broken. The back of the watch is stamped with an inspector mark and an RZM stamp. Below the stamps it reads MIRAMAR/GENEVE/FOND ACIER/INOXYDABLE and the serial number of 12553. The movement of the watch sweeps perfectly. When wound it keeps perfect time for several days before needing to be wound again. The watch band looks to be a replacement and is in very good condition. The watch comes with the book "DAS REICH" The Story of the 2nd SS Division. The book was written by James Lucas, published in 2004 and the content is 211 pages. It contains black and white photographs, maps and drawings. These two items displayed together will enhance your WWII German collection very nicely.
