This is an Albertype print of Arthur B. Frost's print entitled "The Music for the Dance". Frost's original watercolor and gouache print was the two page centerfold of the December 12, 1891 Harper's Weekly magazine. This print measures 16 3/4" wide, 13" tall with the actual image being 10 1/4" wide and 6 3/4" tall. The image is black and white and depicts four musicians traveling through a winter landscape on their way to the next engagement. These bundled up music makers carry their instruments as they jokingly trudge through the snow towards their next show destination. There are a couple of small tears along the bottom edge pf the print, along with one on each side near the bottom. These will not show when the print is framed. There is also a large water stain along the bottom of the print, but again will not be visible when framed. The tissue type coversheet is still attached to the top of the print. It has the title and artist printed in the center. It shows some tears and water spots as well. The original sold for around 60k at auction recently, this one is considerably less!
