This is an American made Red Cross flag from the World War II period. The flag measures 32 1/2" high and 59" wide. It is constructed of 8 panels of red and white cloth with a red cross in the center. This flag used grommets to attach to a flag pole, but the lower one is missing. A cloth tie is tied to the upper grommet so the flag could be attached to a standard. The red color of the flag is still very bright and clean, but there are a large area of staining on the bottom panel of the white field. There are no major rips or tears in the flag, but there are several small holes in the bottom panel where the staining is, along with a couple more on the fly side of the flag that are also in the white panels. The flag has a small makers label sewn onto the hoist that identifies the maker as the FLOCO company of Atlanta, Georgia. A flag of this size would have been used to identify a battalion aid station. It will work well in any WWII American collection, regardless of the theater of operation.
