WWII US Army Air Force Sterling Pilot Wing
Item #: WR1210

This is a US Army Air Force Pilot's wing from World War II. The wing measures 3" wide and is marked Sterling on the reverse. The wing has a nice dark, untouched patina. This set uses clutch backs and pins to secure it to the uniform. This type is referred to as "Graduation Wings", presented to pilots and other air crew positions when they graduated from their respective school. They were procured by the branch of service and not maker marked so as to not show any favoritism for a certain manufacturer. The government requested the clutch backs versus pinbacks for ease of awarding them during graduation ceremonies. This set would look great displayed in any WWII aviation collection.
