This is a between the wars USMC enlisted man's campaign hat from the 1920's - 1930's. The hat is made by the renowned Stetson company. The felt material in Olive drab is in the form of the Montana peak. The overall condition of the hat is good, having numerous small moth nips, but nothing major. There is no hat cord, as enlisted Marines did not wear them. The hat band ribbon is in very good condition with no tears or holes. The sweat band carries the Stetson logo of a shield with JOHN B. STETSON running across the shield. The words NO. 1 over QUALITY are embossed on the bottom of the shield. The name of the retailer, Ring & Company of Little Rock, ARK. is also embossed on the sweatband. A to duplicate tag on the inside has the number of A848657. Beside the to duplicate tag is another tag with the size of 6 3/4", Block No, depth and finish. There is no ink stamp on the inside of the sweatband for a military contract. This is an obvious private purchase hat by some salty WWI Marine veteran who may have still been serving when he bought this. His Eagle Globe and Anchor is of the WWI variety, there is no back mark on it. Would would make a good representative campaign hat for a China Marine!
