This is a reproduction WWII A-2 flight jacket manufactured by Morgan Productions of Asheville, North Carolina. Former Colonel Robert Knight Morgan, pilot of the Memphis Belle, had these jackets made and sold them at air shows across the United States. The jacket is made of genuine seal brown horse hide. The cuffs and waist band are made of 100 % dark brown wool. The lining is made of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. This jacket is a size 42 and is in almost mint condition. The leather is very supple and just has an amazing look to it. A white stencil of the Army Air Force from WWII is printed on the inside of the wind flap. A black tag wit gold lettering is sewn into the back of the jacket that reads, "TYPE A-2/DWG.NO. 30-1415/A.C. CONTRACT/ORDER NO.W33-038 A.C.-1715(11631) /PROPERTY /AIR FORCE U.S. ARMY/MORGAN PRODUCTIONS/ ASHEVILLE, NC.". The size 42 tag is sewn directly below it. On the right breast of the jacket is a circular leather patch that has the nose art of the B-17 Memphis Belle painted on it. A talon zipper is used to close up the front of the jacket, and it works flawlessly. On the lining below the information tag, is the signature and date of signing of Robert Morgan. It reads " ROBERT MORGAN/PILOT MEMPHIS BELLE/1-22-98". Morgan piloted the famous B-17 Memphis Belle, flying with the 91st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force during WWII. The Belle was the first crew to complete 25 missions over Europe and gained fame during the war for this feat. But Morgan went on to fly in the Pacific theater, piloting a B-29 for 26 missions over Japan. This is a very nice looking A-2, and has the signature of one of the most famous pilots to come out of WWII. If you can't afford the real thing, this one is the next best thing!
