WWII German Cuff Title Uniform Removed
Item #: WR1384
This is a German cuff title authorized for wear by personnel of the Afrika Corps during World War II. This cuff title was instituted on 15 January, 1943. As a campaign decoration it was considered an award and all branches of the Wehrmacht that met the requirements were entitled to receive the award. To be eligible, a member had to have served in North Afrika for a minimum of six months. There were exceptions, if a soldier was wounded and required to return to Germany to heal they were authorized to wear the cuff title. Further exceptions were made before the collapse and final surrender of the Afrika Corps on 13 May, 1943. This cuff title is constructed of brown camel hair cloth. It is trimmed on the top and bottom edges with silver-gray tresses. Sewn in the center of the title is the inscription AFRIKA flanked by two palm trees. It measure 1 3/8" wide and approximately 15" in length. This one has been removed from a uniform. It remains in fantastic condition. If you have an Afrika Corps collection you need to take a hard look at this one.
