US Navy Mark 1 Signal Shell Cartridge Belt

This is a U.S. Navy Mark 1 signal cartridge belt from the World War II period. This webbed belt is in very good, lightly used condition. It measures 2 1/4" wide and is 44" long. There are 32 single row loops for 10 gauge cartridges for the Mark 5 signal pistol. The belt shows signs of wear and use, but not abuse. The brass fittings are WWII period, the slack adjusters are of a later period. The back of the belt is ink stamped ""U. S. N."/CARTRIDGE BELT Mk. 1/A. L. SIEGEL CO. INC./1943. These cartridge belts were part of a survival kit found in life boats of Merchant marine vessels, along with the holster and actual signal pistol. All these components were stored in a canvas shoulder pouch. This is an excellent candidate for your WWII US Navy collection.
