This is a World War II leather holster made for the Colt Model 1911A1. This russet leather holster is in good condition, but has been dyed black. Traces of the original russet color can be seen under the flap. It was manufactured by the Warren Leather Goods Company and is not dated. All stitching, rivets and closure stud are extremely tight and secure to the holster. The eyelet at the toe of the holster is in tact but has no leather "tie down". The brass rivets, eyelet and closure stud all have some verdigris showing. The bail that is used to attach the holster to a web belt shows considerable wear and is showing all steel. The flap is embossed with a US within an oval. The interior of the holster shows plenty of honest wear. The Warren Leather Goods Co. made M1916 holster for both WWI and WWII. It seems that they only dated their WWII holsters made in 1944, so this could be a 42, 43 or 45 made holster. When the Army made the change from the "brown boot" to "black boot" this holster was dyed black. This one has been there and made it back, probably seeing service during WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
