The shoulder straps of his two stars are visible in the photo. Mounted below the photo is a reproduction of a Civil War campaign medal. The medal is mounted with the bust of Lincoln in the center of the medallion, encircled by the words, " WITH MALICE TOWARDS NONE WITH CHARITY FOR ALL".
