This is a United States Marine Corps dress blue coat from the 1920's - 1930's time period. There are no tags or stamps to identify the exact time period of the jacket. The sleeve linings have been cut out, so there are no stamps to reference. The coat has no outer pockets, which definitely dates it to pre 1947. The seven button front has the gold Marine Corps buttons, with eight smaller buttons of the same type for the cuffs and epaulets. The coat size buttons all have the same back marks of "N.S. MYERS INC. N.Y.C.". The smaller buttons are all back marked "AM. BUTTON CO. NEWARK N.J.". The button on the left epaulet is missing. The coat is partially lined and has two inner pockets. There are no stamped or hand written names anywhere inside the tunic. There is a small cloth tag stapled to the inside of the coat just below the collar with a handwritten 1843 M on it. The chevrons of Corporal are sewn on each sleeve. The yellow stripes are frayed on both chevrons. The standing collar has a set of 1920's Eagle, Globe and Anchor insignia on it. It's obvious the screw backs have not been removed from this uniform in a long time. There is no insect damage showing anywhere on the tunic, there are no rips, tears or stains found on the tunic either. This is a very nice example of an inter war Marine dress blue jacket with a very nice set of early EGA's. It displays well on a mannequin and will look great in any war room!
