Item #: WR739

This is a garrison cap worn by a United States Marine Corps officer during the Vietnam War era. The garrison cap is worn with the Marine service uniform, the enlisted version which has been unchanged since 1943. The rank insignia is missing from the cap, but you can still see the "ghost" impressions of two clutch back retainers, or "dammits"! The rank would have been worn on the right side of the cap. Attached to the left side of the cap is an officer's Eagle, Globe and Anchor. The only back mark on the EGA are the numbers 594. There are three tags securely sewn into the cap. The first is a cloth tag showing approval of the material and design of the cap for USMC use. A small size tag is sewn beside it showing this cover to be a size 6 7/8". The last tag gives the type of material the cap is made of and cleaning instructions. All three tags are sewn over the brown leather sweatband. On the back of the large tag the name Muratore, S has been printed in black ink. The sweatband is still with the cap, all the stitching is tight and unbroken. The lining inside the cap is a green satin type material. This is just a nice representative cap worn by a US Marine officer who served during the Vietnam War era.
