This is an early US 82nd Infantry Division patch from World War I. The patch measures 3" wide and 3 1/4" high. This early variant does not have the double AA's in the blue circle. The blue circle and red red square are sewn onto a green wool background to form the 82nd patch. There is a fair amount of moth damage around the green border, along with some slight fraying in a spot or two. I don not believe this 82nd Division patch was ever sewn on a tunic. The 82nd Division patch is probably the most recognizable patch from WWI, thanks to fellow Tennessean Alvin York! The overall condition of this early variant WWI 82nd Division patch is still pretty good.
