Combat Field Medic Badge

This is a Combat Field medic badge from the Vietnam War period. The badge measures 1 1/2" wide and 1" high. This badge is no subdues and is meant to worn on the dress uniform. The Combat Medic Badge was created by the War Department on 1March, 1945 to recognize field medics that accompany infantry units into battle. These soldiers endure the same hardships and dangers as the infantryman in combat, and more when the bullets stat flying. While everyone else is looking for cover, "Doc" is up and moving to locate and treat wounded platoon members. This award is eligible to Army, Navy and Air Force medical personnel assigned or attached to an infantry unit or brigade size or smaller or to a medical unit of company size or smaller organic to an infantry unit of brigade size or smaller. In order to receive the award medical personnel must actually proved medical assistance while under fire from an enemy combatant. Participation alone in the engagement does not qualify medical personnel for the CMB. This Combat Medic Badge is in very good condition. It will make a great addition to your Vietnam War medals and badge collection.
