Non Excavated Eagle I Coat Button

This is a non excavated Eagle I coat button from the Civil War period. This two piece button is coat size and has an American eagle with the letter I on the face. The back mark is "SCOVILL MF'G CO./WATERBURY". The face is dent free, no mars or blemishes. The eagle is facing to the right, clutching a laurel branch in the right talon and three arrows in the left talon. In the center of the eagle is a shield with the letter I, to denote the Infantry branch of service. The majority of the gilt is still on this button. The shank is still present and standing straight.
